HERZOG & DE MEURON 2005-2007

Nine years have passed since the publication of the previous volume of the Complete Works of Herzog & de Meuron. That so much time should elapse reflects both the growth of their practice and the conditions in the construction industry. Although Herzog & de Meuron were already active in different continents around the millennium- that last volume, no.4, covered the period 1997-2001- they have since been increasingly in global demand.

The architects' designs now reflected their renewed interest in classical modernism, a retour à l'orde, in buildings such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, which also revels in aspects of subtropical modernism and the vibrant spirit of the 1960s: modernism goes pop.
