Nari Ward (b. 1963, St. Andrew, Jamaica; lives and works in New York) is celebrated internationally for his thought-provoking sculptural installations and mixed-media work. Ward repurposes everyday and found objects — from television sets to shoelaces — into powerful artistic statements that explore memory, community, cultural identity, consumer culture, race, and social history. His work continually invites viewers to reflect on complex narratives and derive personal meaning from unexpected juxtapositions.

These collector’s plates were issued in conjunction with Nari Ward: Sun Splashed, the mid-career retrospective presented at PAMM in the fall and winter of 2015–2016. This landmark exhibition offered an expansive look at Ward’s diverse practice, highlighting his ability to transform materials and ideas in ways that bridge sculpture, photography, installation, and collage, and showcasing his ongoing investigations into urban space, politics, migration, and tradition.
